Job description

The Production Maintenance Mechanic at North Coast works under the supervision of the Facilities Maintenance Manager to inspect, maintain, and repair procession equipment and machinery located in our seafood manufacturing plants. They are proficient in the use of hand and power tools and assist other factory mechanics in the performance of their respective duties.

This position reports to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Troubleshoots machinery
2. Performs preventative maintenance
3. Replace parts of machines as needed
4. Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications
5. Reviews workspace for cleanliness and safety
6. Performs conveyor belt maintenance and repair
7. Performs electrical work such as electric motor replacement, basic industrial wiring & troubleshooting
8. Performs mechanical work to include bearing replacement, gearing, sprockets and roller chains, belts

Minimum Requirements

1. 3+ years of previous experience in industrial maintenance/line mechanics
2. Experience with packaging and/or bagging equipment preferred
3. Diverse background in mechanical, electrical and plumbing experience preferred
4. Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
5. Great attention to detail
6. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
7. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Additional Requirements

1. Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds
2. Work up to a 10-hour workday: standing/walking most of the day
3. Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling
4. Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching
5. Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals
6. Exposure to temperatures: <32 degrees Fahrenheit
7. Ability to work in wet and dry conditions
8. Ability to work Monday-Friday, weekends when needed
9. Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives or box cutters, pallet jacks, fork-lifts
