Job summary

Champion Foods LLC in Michigan is seeking a working lead to assist the supervisor in overseeing the production workforce, improving line performance, ensuring safety and food safety compliance, and leading a team of up to 25 colleagues.

You will mentor staff, coordinate line schedules, drive continuous improvement, train new hires, and partner with HR on performance and policy compliance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or production environments.
• Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, FDA, USDA and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to mentor and train others.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with RedZone and Oracle.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Leadership training within 1 year of starting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with monitoring the production line performance and make improvements or adjustments to meet schedules and maintain quality standards.
• Create production line schedules and direct workflow of assigned line(s) and activities of production colleagues.
• Monitor colleagues to ensure adherence to safety and food safety handling procedures.
• Train new production colleagues and ensure understanding of machine functions and safe operation.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, BRC and other regulatory requirements; document issues and provide recommendations.
• Collaborate with supervisor to ensure compliance with company rules and policies; promote a safe, fair work environment.
• Lead team meetings and participate in performance development and HR-related processes.
• Support quality and continuous improvement initiatives.
