Job summary

MACLEAN POWER SYSTEMS (MPS) is seeking a Lead Production Operator to assist in supervision of departmental production personnel and perform duties under the direction of the department supervisor.

You will set up equipment, perform maintenance and troubleshooting, operate machinery as needed, and ensure production records are accurate. The role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and implementing process improvements to meet output goals.

Qualifications

• 4 to 6 years of experience, including experience driving powered industrial equipment.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a subordinate group.
• Comprehensive working knowledge of production systems and processes.
• Powered industrial equipment certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead 1 - Production Operator - 2791

Assists in supervision of departmental production personnel; performs all duties under direction from the department supervisor.

Job Duties

• Perform moderately complex tasks related to set-up, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, including resolving technical and quality issues.
• Assist in operating machinery in designated department when needed.
• Ensure all necessary production records are completed fully and accurately.
• Assist in maintaining communication between shifts.
• Communicate with other teams and support departments and serve as liaison between team and plant management.
• Assist with data collection and reporting.
• Ensure all workstations stay full of components for building processes.
• Reassign team members due to absences or production needs.
• Inspect materials, final products, and machinery for defects.
• Implement process improvement initiatives as needed.
• Ensure that department output meets organizational expectation.
• Guide the manufacturing/operations team in interpreting existing processes and policies and assist in the development of efficiencies or process improvements.
• Complete all necessary documents fully and accurately.
• Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
• Follow all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Experience and Education

• Perform work under minimal supervision.
• Handle complex issues and problems and refer only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Possess comprehensive working knowledge of subject matter.
• 4 to 6 years of experience, including experience driving powered industrial equipment.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
• Powered industrial equipment certification preferred
