Job summary

Afinitas, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to join the 2nd shift at our Iowa operations.

You will read moderately complex drawings and set up welding equipment to perform MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding, producing precision components for our manufacturing lines. The role requires strict adherence to tolerances, use of micrometers and calipers, and strong grinding and fabrication skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret moderately complex blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints.
• Advanced MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding skills.
• Experience with machined part fabrication.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong grinding knowledge and quality control focus.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and set up welding equipment; adjust currents, gas pressures, and electrodes.
• Operate welding, brazing, and flame cutting equipment.
• Perform saw operations and painting as required.
• Measure with micrometers and calipers to ensure tolerances.
• Inspect finished units for defects and conformance to specs.
• Document quality and production data; participate in meetings.
• Maintain clean, safe work area; follow safety procedures.

4-DAY WORK WEEK 2ND SHIFT BENEFITS START DAY 1 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interpret moderately complex drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices
• Perform moderately complex saw operations and painting as required
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers
• Detect defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor describing in accurate detail to ensure proper corrective actions
• Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements
• Actively participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures
• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be able to competently perform all level 2 duties.
• Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints
• Strong grinding knowledge.
• Advanced skills in MIG, TIG, and flux core welding
• Strong experience with machined part fabrication.
• Ability to be versatile and flexible in running open machines.

• Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment
• Ability to obtain and operate mobile equipment needed to perform essential functions

Work Environment

• Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals.
• Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.
