Job summary

Barry-Wehmiller, through Afinitas, is hiring 2nd shift Fabricators for our concrete machinery and form equipment lines. Work Monday-Thursday with a 2:45pm–12:45am shift and a $2 per hour differential.

You will read basic drawings, set up welding equipment, perform grinding and painting, and help ensure quality and safety in a manufacturing environment. Ideal candidates have entry-level welding experience (MIG/TIG/flux-core), basic blueprint reading, and the ability to work in a team.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and interpret basic blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints.
  • Beginning level grinding knowledge.
  • Beginning level experience in MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding.
  • Team oriented with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment; adjust current, amperage, gas pressures, and controls; select electrodes.
  • Perform basic saw operations and painting as required.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers and calipers.
  • Inspect, detect defects, and report issues to supervisor with precision instruments.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production standards.
  • Participate in team meetings to resolve cost, quality, or production issues and follow safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and equipment; operate in accordance with PPE requirements.

Job Description

Afinitas is Hiring 2nd Shift Fabricators! We are a world's leading manufacturing of innovative solutions for the concrete pipe machinery and form equipment. We work Monday-Thursday 10 hour days. Our 2nd shift is from 2:45pm-12:45 am with a shift diferential of $2 an hour.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied. Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices. Perform basic saw operations and painting as required. Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers. May measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers. Assist with detection of defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor. Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements. Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Maintain equipment and work area in clean, orderly, and safe condition. Other duties as assigned.

Ability to obtain and operate mobile equipment needed to perform essential functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.
