In September 2017, Bob Evans Farms was acquired by Post Holdings, Inc., and is part of the Refrigerated Retail division. Other divisions of Post include Post Consumer Brands, Weetabix, Michael Foods, and 8th Avenue Food & Provisions. Post has aggressive growth plans for BEF, highlighted by recent capital deployment to support innovation, marketing, and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the daily coordination and continuous improvement of the entire facility. It involves assessing daily operational needs and training requirements for team members, ensuring a safe and productive environment, and monitoring staff development through coaching. The role also supports SRMP, Alchemy, backup duties, and other responsibilities as assigned. The incumbent will work closely with all plant disciplines including Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Planning, Facilities, Raw Materials, Warehouse, Customers, Suppliers, and Auditors.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the facility is staffed with trained and qualified personnel through effective scheduling, coaching, and training.
  2. Maintain a safe work environment by addressing safety issues, monitoring practices, and conducting safety tours and audits.
  3. Hold safety meetings and training sessions.
  4. Verify crew members are trained to meet OSHA requirements and report safety concerns to management.
  5. Manage incident and accident reports and ensure proper PPE is requisitioned.
  6. Ensure food safety and security by adhering to GMPs, sanitation guidelines, and HACCP standards.
  7. Lead at least one PSRMP element (2-15).
  8. Maintain product quality by following specifications and documentation.
  9. Implement corrective actions as needed to address deficiencies.
  10. Achieve production and packaging goals daily and weekly.
  11. Coordinate equipment maintenance and validate equipment operation at shift start.
  12. Communicate equipment issues and initiate work orders for repairs.
  13. Foster collaboration across shifts and develop a high-performance team environment.
  14. Serve as emergency coordinator to ensure safety of all personnel and visitors.
  15. Report all safety and human safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  16. Embrace change productively and manage additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and manage a diverse team.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency with computers, software, and business systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with math skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA, and applicable laws.
  • Preferred knowledge of food processing, HACCP, GMPs, and sanitation.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with 5+ years of progressive plant operational experience, or similar.

Team Leadership Skills

Ability and desire to lead in a team environment, fostering decision-making, ownership, and open communication.

Language Skills

Ability to read, write, and speak effectively, and facilitate meetings.

Reasoning Ability

Apply experience and common sense to resolve issues efficiently, troubleshoot problems, and improve line efficiency, quality, safety, and sanitation.
