Job description

Position Summary:
The Production Labor I role is key to supporting installation, finishing, and basic carpentry processes in a fast paced and dynamic production environment. Primary responsibilities include slope shield and panel shield installation, sanding, applying protective finishes, and performing other basic carpentry tasks. Individuals in this role must demonstrate attention to detail, adaptability, and a commitment to producing high-quality, wood-based products. The ability to shift between tasks and contribute to multiple stages of production is essential to maintaining efficiency and quality standards of the team. All new hires will complete safety onboarding to ensure adherence to company protocols and promote operational excellence.


Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in the installation of slope shields, panel shields, and lifting pins, ensuring components are properly aligned and secured according to specifications.
  2. Operate sanding equipment to smooth surfaces and prepare products for further processing or finishing (orbital and floor sanders).
  3. Apply protective coatings to wood products following precise application techniques to meet quality and durability standards.
  4. Perform proper doweling and cutting techniques in a safe and efficient manner.
  5. Repair fleet mats and perform other basic product modifications.
  6. Prepare products for shipment by packaging and labeling them to ensure they are ready for delivery.
  7. Adapt to the evolving needs of the production floor, taking on new tasks related to installation, finishing, and carpentry as required.
  8. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
  9. Follow safety protocols and complete required safety training upon hiring.

Minimum Qualifications:

  2. Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
  3. Previous experience with installation, finishing, or carpentry processes is a plus, but not required.
  4. Completion of company-provided safety training upon hire.

Work Environment:
This role is based entirely on the production floor in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The individual will work in a wood-based manufacturing setting, where conditions include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. The employee must be able to adapt to frequent changes in tasks and priorities, working in an environment that requires attention to detail and safety. Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.

Physical Requirements:
This role requires standing for extended periods, frequently lifting and moving materials weighing up to 50 lbs. The employee will need to crouch, kneel, reach, and occasionally climb to complete installation, finishing, and other tasks as needed. The position also demands manual dexterity to operate tools and handle materials. Clear communication with team members is essential to ensure safety and task efficiency.
