Job summary

Devon Energy in the United States seeks a Production Engineering Analyst to support data management, analytics, reporting, and engineering application support for Production, Facilities, Midstream, and Construction teams.

The role focuses on acquiring, validating, analyzing, and maintaining technical and economic data to drive operational decision-making, develop reports, dashboards, and tools, and improve processes with data-driven insights. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: 2 Year/Associate's degree; combination of industry experience and education may substitute as equivalent for degree.
  • Preferred: 4 Year/Bachelor's degree; Technical or 4-year college degree highly preferred.
  • Preference for college degree in related field such as Engineering Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics, Data Analytics, or Business Analytics

Responsibilities

  • Acquire, validate, organize, and maintain technical and operational data from both internal and external sources
  • Monitor activity across company operations and track data in various databases and reporting systems
  • Gathers technical data for manipulation and analysis projects to support engineering studies and business decisions
  • Creates, updates, and maintains various data dashboards & models and works with Petro professionals to provide meaningful analysis
  • Help streamline processes, identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve data quality, and increase operational efficiencies
  • Assists engineering professionals with various research and analytical projects including benchmarking and preparation of presentation or report materials
  • Depending on dedicated discipline, monitors production and drilling performance, AFE's and LOE evaluations
  • Other tasks as assigned

Job Summary

The Production Engineering Analyst reports to an Engineering Manager and supports Production, Facilities, Midstream, and Construction teams through data management, analytics, reporting, and engineering application support. This position is responsible for acquiring, validating, analyzing, and maintaining technical and economic data used to support operational and strategic decision‑making. The role works closely with engineering professionals to develop reports, maintain databases and various engineering and economic tools, improve processes, and provide actionable insights that enhance business performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Acquire, validate, organize, and maintain technical and operational data from both internal and external sources
  • Monitor activity across company operations and track data in various databases and reporting systems
  • Gathers technical data for manipulation and analysis projects to support engineering studies and business decisions
  • Creates, updates, and maintains various data dashboards & models and works with Petro professionals to provide meaningful analysis
  • Help streamline processes, identify opportunities to automate workflows, improve data quality, and increase operational efficiencies
  • Assists engineering professionals with various research and analytical projects including benchmarking and preparation of presentation or report materials
  • Depending on dedicated discipline, (production, reservoir, drilling) monitors production and drilling performance, AFE's and LOE evaluations
  • Other tasks as assigned
Skills and Experience
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required
  • Working knowledge of oil and gas software (Aries, SQL, Oracle, P2, SCADA, Spotfire, PowerBI, SEEQ, GIS, etc.)
  • Strong background in data visualization with the ability to interpret engineering, operational, and economic data
  • Knowledge of upstream oil & gas operations and production is preferred
  • Experience in working with large data sets and database QA/QC and maintenance
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build and maintain effective relationships with various levels of company personnel
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task with attention to accuracy
  • Must be a team player and possess the ability to adapt to changing and fast paced working environment
Education Requirements

Working Conditions and Physical Demand

Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work which includes typing, sitting, and standing. In the event that incumbent visits operations worksite, personal protection equipment, including head protection, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame‑resistant clothing is required. Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.

Percent of Travel Required: Less than 5%; Travel may be required for mandatory meetings or training.
