What we’re looking for:

This position will play a critical role in the success of the Utilities & Joint Wastewater Treatment processing units. The successful candidate will provide leadership and innovation to ensure that the units are run safely, efficiently and in compliance with environmental permits. The successful candidate will also communicate with various levels of the organization to ensure targets are met and daily activities are managed properly.

What will Be expected from you?

  • Support Utilities & Joint Wastewater Treatment Process (JWWTP) day to day operations.
  • Review daily production vs. site demand and make/implement daily recommendations to operate at highest quality/productivity/lowest cost. Implementation includes preparing appropriate requests, writing notifications, and any other duties assigned by supervision.
  • Develop and implement process improvements or capital improvements that will increase energy output and efficiency, reduce cost of boiler/Cogen and water treatment operations, improve compliance with environmental permits and provide general optimization.
  • Identify project needs that will improve the operation of the facilities with specific focus on boiler systems, water treatment, bio-plant operations, and Cogen units.
  • Ensure that SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) meet PSM requirements. Work with operations trainers (JITs) to track procedure reviews for each shift, target is 20% per year to meet the five-year review cycle. Integrate procedures into DCS graphics where possible.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) processes as needed to ensure safety of process changes.
  • Execute plant experiments (through MOC) and implement change based on experimental results.
  • Track and enter asset capability (OEE) data for the steam generation assets.
  • Provide input to the budget and capital planning process.
  • Ensures energy, cost, and quality performance in the Utilities & JWWTP facilities.
  • Participate in plant sponsored safety processes – compete weekly field safety observations.
  • Assist in plant startup including equipment and piping check out and assist with SOP and training material development.
  • Responsible for mastering all Utilities & JWWTP unit operations.
  • Perform end of month financial duties for Utilities & JWWTP.
  • Perform goods receipts for purchasing as requested.
  • Interface with water treatment and other vendors to ensure quality standards and inventories are met.
  • Update the unit KPIs and lead the monthly KPI review meeting.
  • Lead the alarm management process for Utilities & JWWTP, which includes issuing reports and coordinating meetings with controls engineers, operators, etc. This includes reviewing the inhibited alarms and DCS clamp report with the OC on a weekly basis.
  • Responsible for reviewing and entering comments for Non-Conforming samples.
  • Operations resource for leading incident investigations and RCFAs.
  • Promote and support Indorama core values.
  • Ensure that the activities are carried out to comply with the integrated management system, as applicable (safety, food safety, GMP, health, environmental, quality and responsible care requirements).
  • Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed. If applicable, ability to work overtime may be needed to ensure required staffing capacity to meet daily production objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishments of Indorama company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company. Participates in and completes company-required training programs.

What are we looking for in the Ideal candidate?

  • BS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering AND minimum 5 years of production engineering experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or refining industry required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain TWIC card, for information please visit https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
  • Experience with Gas turbine, power boilers, water plant, and bio-plant - preferred
  • Knowledge of emissions control strategies and application for fired equipment preferred.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with SAP, Internet, Email and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with chemical plant control system (DCS) and advanced process control a plus
  • Six Sigma/lean experience preferred.
  • Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM)
  • Strong computer skills, including process simulation tools such as Aspen or Unisim a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong engineering, technology, and business acumen to bring value to business team.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop engineering solutions.
