About the role:
As a fully remote Lean Manufacturing Engineer, you will help build lean manufacturing and process improvement programs across our global fuel manufacturing operations to achieve our goals. You will focus on reducing waste, improving efficiency, and optimizing workflow, all while maintaining safety standards. Domestic and international travel of about 60% will be required for this position.
The Lean Manufacturing Engineer position is a new role within the Operational Excellence function of Global Manufacturing (GMFG). You will report to the Director, Operational Excellence and support this position remotely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation of Lean principles (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standardized Work, A3, and others) to improve processes, workflows, performance, and capacity.
- Analyze current manufacturing and business processes to identify opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.
- Collaborate with teams (operations, engineering, quality, and others) to develop Lean solutions.
- Design and conduct training sessions on Lean methodologies and best practices to promote a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor goals related to process performance, providing regular reports and updates to senior management.
- Facilitate Kaizen events and other continuous improvement activities aimed at eliminating waste and improving throughput.
- Support the development and deployment of standardized work procedures and visual management systems.
- Perform root cause analysis to resolve process bottlenecks, quality issues, and operational challenges.
- Champion the use of data and analytics to lead decision-making and process improvements.
- Maintain a focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance in all Lean activities.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in continuous improvement in a lean manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- Certified Manufacturing Engineer (SME CMfgE) or PMI certification.
- Experience using visual Daily Management.
- Experience with Value Stream Mapping to improve flow paths.
- Proven use of Standardized Work to identify and eliminate waste to increase productivity.
- Knowledge of Lean tools and methodologies (VSM, Standardized Work, 5S, SMED, TPM, etc.).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and adopt Lean practices.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools.
- Knowledge of benchmarking practices and systems to help others understand and implement improvements to achieve manufacturing goals and business indicators.
- Must be a Lean practitioner.
