Job summary

SME Steel Contractors, a division of SME Industries, Inc., seeks a Production Support to manage all production documents, shop drawings, and revisions for fabrication projects. You will ensure accuracy, traceability, and timely distribution to the correct departments.

Heavy emphasis on maintaining Tekla PowerFab records, coordinating with production control and purchasing, and supporting print room workflows while upholding document integrity across projects.

Qualifications

• Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in nesting structural steel for fabrication.
• Experience with Tekla PowerFab or similar document/production systems.
• Experience operating large-format printers and managing print room workflows.
• Ability to interpret and manage fabrication drawings and revision documentation.
• Effective cross-department communication to ensure document accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Manage all production documentation including shop drawings, models, NC1 data, revisions, and supporting records.
• Coordinate with project management, production control, and purchasing to archive documents before use.
• Maintain document control within Tekla PowerFab with proper versioning and filing structure.
• Receive and log drawing revisions from detailing firms and update fabrication teams.
• Ensure printed documentation is organized, complete, and labeled for each project.
