Job summary

Novax Recruitment Group is partnering with a leading U.S. structural steel fabricator to recruit a Production Control professional.

You will ensure correct steel is purchased, allocated, and released to fabrication shops, interfacing with detailing, purchasing, project management and production. The role focuses on reviewing drawings and BOMs, determining steel grades and quantities, and optimizing material flow across multiple shops.

Qualifications

• Background in production control, material planning, CNC programming or steel purchasing.
• Ability to read shop drawings and understand BOMs.
• Experience with beams, columns, plate and main-member material.
• Knowledge of nesting and cut optimisation.
• Tekla PowerFab/EPM, FabTrol or similar software experience.

Responsibilities

• Review fabrication drawings, BOMs and material requirements.
• Determine required steel grades, quantities and lengths.
• Purchase material from mills and service centres.
• Produce and check cut lists.
• Manually nest material to minimise waste.
• Allocate material across multiple fabrication shops.
• Coordinate drawing and work-package releases.

Are you experienced in turning structural steel drawings and bills of material into accurate purchasing, cutting and fabrication plans?

I’m working with a leading U.S. structural steel fabricator that has expanded its production capacity and is now looking to strengthen its production control team.

This is a technical, office-based fabrication role, not a shop-floor supervisory position.

The Role

You will help ensure the correct steel is purchased, efficiently allocated and released to the appropriate fabrication shop.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing fabrication drawings, BOMs and material requirements
• Determining the required steel grades, quantities and lengths
• Purchasing material from mills and service centres
• Producing and checking cut lists
• Manually nesting material to minimise waste
• Allocating material across multiple fabrication shops
• Coordinating drawing and work-package releases
• Tracking inventory, shortages, remnants and replacement material
• Supporting subcontracted fabrication packages
• Working with detailing, purchasing, project management and production

What We’re Looking For
