EASTERN METAL WORKS, INC. in Milford, CT is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the Project Management and Detailing teams.
You will maintain logs, organize drawings and submittals, and ensure information is accurate and current across active jobs, using Tekla PowerFab as the primary tracking system. The role requires strong organizational skills, follow-up on missing information, and coordination with project managers, detailers and field personnel in a deadline-driven environment.
Eastern Metal Works is an AISC-certified structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and erection company. The Project Coordinator supports the Project Management and Detailing teams by keeping project documents, logs and related information accurate, organized and current across multiple active jobs.
This position uses Tekla PowerFab as the primary project tracking system for drawings, submittals, RFIs, transmittals and change order requests. The coordinator monitors outstanding items and return dates, follows up on missing information and communicates issues before they affect detailing, fabrication or field work.
Maintain project drawing logs, submittal records, RFIs, transmittals and change order request information in Tekla PowerFab; keep dates, revisions, statuses and supporting documents up to date.
Receive, log, upload, organize and distribute contract drawings, shop and erection drawings, returned submittals, RFI responses and other project correspondence using approved EMW systems and file locations.
Track outgoing submittal packages, expected response dates, actual return dates, review statuses and items requiring revision and resubmittal.
Monitor open RFIs and missing information; coordinate follow-up with Project Managers, detailers and other parties as directed, and record answers promptly and accurately.
Check drawing identification, revision numbers, issue dates and review stamps for document-control accuracy; bring conflicts or unclear statuses to the responsible Project Manager or detailing lead.
Identify and retain superseded revisions in accordance with company procedures, and help ensure that office, shop and field personnel can access the current, properly authorized documents.
Distinguish externally approved drawings from internally checked fabrication documents and released-for-fabrication packages; track status without independently authorizing a release.
Track potential changes and change order requests, including supporting correspondence, pending responses and approval status; alert the Project Manager to items with possible cost or schedule impacts.
Coordinate electronic file organization and links or references between PowerFab and designated project folders so records are complete and easy to locate.
Monitor multiple projects for overdue submittals, unanswered RFIs, missing revisions and unresolved document-control issues; provide concise exception updates to Project Management.
Assist with initial job document setup, project information, document turnover and closeout records as assigned.
Work closely with Project Management, Detailing, Quality, Production and Field Operations to resolve document discrepancies and maintain clear communication.
Maintain project confidentiality, follow approved EMW document-control procedures and perform related project support duties as assigned.
Exceptional organization, accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage several active projects and competing deadlines.
Strong follow-through: able to identify incomplete information, ask clear questions and keep issues open until a responsible person provides direction or closure.
Ability to read drawing title blocks, sheet numbers, revision identifiers and approval stamps; full engineering or design expertise is not required.
Good written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with Project Managers, detailers, general contractors, customers and vendors.
Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and PDF documents; ability to learn unfamiliar construction software.
Experience with Tekla PowerFab/EPM, Trimble Connect, Bluebeam or comparable construction document-management tools is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in construction management or a related field is a plus.
Experience in commercial construction, project administration, document control or a similar coordination role preferred.
Experience with structural steel fabrication, detailing, subcontractor coordination, RFIs and submittals is a strong plus.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate electronic records and follow projects through to the next required action.
Full-time, on-site position in Milford, CT. The role involves regular coordination with office, detailing, fabrication and field personnel in a deadline-driven construction environment.
Compensation commensurate with experience; pay range to be confirmed before posting.
