Job summary

Sentry Equipment seeks a Supervisor to guide a small team of production detailing professionals, ensuring drawings are accurate, compliant and ready for detailing. The role requires coordinating with Engineering, Sales, Project Management, and other stakeholders to resolve gaps and deliver quality documentation.

You will lead onboarding, training, and performance development, while striving for process improvements and standardization across drafting activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of three to five production detailing professionals and prioritize workload
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, fit and manufacturability before release
• Verify source information is complete and resolve gaps with Engineering and other stakeholders
• Ensure timely delivery of accurate drawings while minimizing errors and rework
• Lead drafting standards, best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Prepare performance reviews and address employee performance with HR and Director of Engineering
• Serve as a technical and process resource for the team
• Recruit, onboard and train interns and assign work
• Collaborate with other departments such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Sales and Project Management

FUNCTION: Supervises and develops a small team of designers. Ensures drawings are accurate and manufacturable and verifies incoming work is complete and ready for detailing.

Essential Responsibilities

• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of three to five production detailing professionals; establish priorities, balance workload, provide ongoing feedback, and support performance and career development.
• Review and approve drawings and related documentation produced by the team for accuracy, completeness, fit, function, manufacturability, and compliance with drafting standards before release.
• Serve as the gatekeeper for incoming detailing work by confirming that requirements, specifications, calculations, models, marked-up drawings, and other source information are accurate and complete; resolve gaps with Engineering, Sales, Project Management, and other stakeholders before assigning work.
• Ensure timely delivery of accurate engineering drawings and related documentation while minimizing errors, rework, engineering time, and unnecessary process touches.
• Maintain and improve drafting standards, design best practices, checking methods, and team processes; lead continuous improvement initiatives that support quality, efficiency, and consistency.
• Prepare performance reviews with appropriate documentation throughout the year and address employee performance or disciplinary matters in partnership with the Director of Engineering and Human Resources.
• Serve as a technical and process resource for the Production Detailing Team.
• Lead the recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, work assignment, and ongoing development of engineering and detailing interns.
• Build relationships with other departments, for example: Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and Project Managers.
