• Supervise, coach, and develop a team of 3–5 production detailing professionals; set priorities and monitor workload.
• Review and approve drawings and documentation for accuracy, manufacturability, and standards before release.
• Gate incoming detailing work, confirm requirements and specs, and resolve gaps with Engineering, Sales, and Project Management.
• Ensure timely delivery of accurate engineering drawings while minimizing errors and rework.
• Maintain and improve drafting standards, checking methods, and team processes.
• Prepare performance reviews and address performance matters with HR involvement.
• Serve as a technical and process resource for the Production Detailing Team.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of interns.
• Build relationships with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and Project Managers.

FUNCTION: Supervises and develops a small team of designers. Ensures drawings are accurate and manufacturable and verifies incoming work is complete and ready for detailing.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervise, coach, and develop a team of three to five production detailing professionals; establish priorities, balance workload, provide ongoing feedback, and support performance and career development.


2. Review and approve drawings and related documentation produced by the team for accuracy, completeness, fit, function, manufacturability, and compliance with drafting standards before release.


3. Serve as the gatekeeper for incoming detailing work by confirming that requirements, specifications, calculations, models, marked-up drawings, and other source information are accurate and complete; resolve gaps with Engineering, Sales, Project Management, and other stakeholders before assigning work.


4. Ensure timely delivery of accurate engineering drawings and related documentation while minimizing errors, rework, engineering time, and unnecessary process touches.


5. Maintain and improve drafting standards, design best practices, checking methods, and team processes; lead continuous improvement initiatives that support quality, efficiency, and consistency.


6. Prepare performance reviews with appropriate documentation throughout the year and address employee performance or disciplinary matters in partnership with the Director of Engineering and Human Resources.


7. Serve as a technical and process resource for the Production Detailing Team.


8. Lead the recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, work assignment, and ongoing development of engineering and detailing interns.


9. Build relationships with other departments, for example: Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, Sales, Marketing, and Project Managers.
