Job summary

Suncoke in Middletown, OH seeks a skilled Stationary Engineer to operate and maintain our production unit, ensuring safety, health, and environmental compliance. You will monitor meters, adjust controls, perform minor maintenance, and coordinate with maintenance and HR as needed to maximize uptime.

Required is an Associate degree or 2–5 years of related experience and a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer license for Ohio; proficiency with MS Office and the Maximo work-order system is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 2-5 years related experience.
• Must possess a 3rd Class Stationary Engineer license for the State of Ohio.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret business documentation.
• Ability to write reports and procedures.
• Proficiency with MS Office and data entry into standard systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate production unit to meet production schedules safely and in line with policies.
• Communicate issues to appropriate personnel and departments as needed.
• Maintain compliance with safety and environmental regulations; keep required records.
• Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Train and coach team members in SOPs, JSA, safe work practices, and hazard recognition.
• Collaborate with HR, managers, and other departments as needed.
• Handle shift-change tasks and maintain operation until relieved.
• Assist maintenance staff with inspections, PMs, and minor troubleshooting.
• Read meters/gauges to verify operating conditions and record data.
• Enter work orders into Maximo and maintain clean work areas.
• Prepare required reports and forms including logs and shift reports.
