Position Summary:
The Production Control Coordinatoris responsible for managing the flow of production documentation between the ERP system and the manufacturing floor. This position ensures that jobs are properly released to production with the correct routers, drawings, and supporting documentation.
The Production Control Coordinator also collects completed production paperwork and reviews actual manufacturing hours against the estimated hours established in the ERP system to support and maintain production KPI’s. When discrepancies are identified, the coordinator will work with operations management to determine opportunities for productivity improvements to drive efficiencies and cost improvements through slack time reductions.
This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate production records, improving scheduling information, and providing reliable manufacturing data for future estimating and planning.
Job Responsibilities:
- Use the company's ERP system to print and prepare job routers, drawings, work instructions, and other required production documentation.
- Verify that required documentation is available and correct before releasing jobs to the shop floor.
- Ensure job packets contain the appropriate drawings, routers, revisions, and supporting information.
- Distribute production paperwork to the appropriate departments and work centers.
- Monitor released jobs to ensure paperwork reaches the shop floor in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Production Control, and Supervisors when documentation is missing or incorrect.
- Maintain awareness of drawing and document revisions to help prevent outdated information from reaching production.
- Collect completed job routers and production paperwork from the manufacturing floor.
- Review paperwork for completeness, including employee labor hours, operation completion, quantities produced, and other required production information to ensure ERP reflects the same.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality standards.
- Analyze production performance metrics and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Follow up with supervisors or teammates when clarification is required.
- Maintain an organized system for tracking open, active, and completed job paperwork.
- Maintain preventative maintenance (PM) records of key manufacturing equipment.
- Coordinate emergency equipment repair and work-arounds during PM activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Experience with effectively utilizing ERP/MRP systems, preferably Infor or a similar, and the ability to maintain weekly KPI’s to drive improvements.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills in generating insights from production data.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing with the ability to read and understand manufacturing drawings and production documentation.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as welding, machining, fabrication, painting, and assembly.
- Experience with production routers, job travelers, work orders, or manufacturing documentation.
- Ability to accurately enter and review data.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, preferably Infor/Syteline.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- Primarily office-based with regular interaction with the manufacturing floor.
- Frequently walking through the manufacturing facility to distribute and collect production documentation.
- May be exposed to typical manufacturing conditions including noise, welding operations, machinery, dust, and temperature variations.
- Required to follow all company safety policies and wear appropriate PPE when entering designated manufacturing areas.
