Job summary

Goodyear is hiring a tire retread technician in Jacksonville, FL. You'll recap, remold, or extend the life of tires to bring them back to road-ready condition. Prior experience isn't required, and you will receive comprehensive training and benefits.

You will inspect tires, buff casings, repair with patches, apply new tread, cure retreads, and perform final quality checks. The role offers medical, dental, vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with a 2% match, life insurance, vacation, holidays, tuition

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tires to assess retread viability.
• Buff the casing to remove worn tread.
• Remove embedded objects, rust, and repair the casing.
• Repair the casing with rubber cement or patch before applying new tread.
• Build the tire by applying new tread.
• Cure the tire to set the retread application.
• Perform final inspection for safety and quality.

The starting pay for this position is $19/hr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. Selected candidates may be eligible for a number of benefits, including: medical, prescription, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, disability, tuition assistance, sick and vacation time, as well as tire discounts. Experience isn't required for this position.

What will you do?

As a member of our retread team, you will play a role in recapping, remolding, or in other words, extending the life of an existing tire to get it back on the road!

• Inspect the tires to assess if they can be retread
• Buff the casing to remove any worn tread
• Remove embedded objects, rust, and repair the tire casing
• Using rubber cement or a patch, repair the casing before applying new tread
• Building the tire by applying new tread
• Curing the tire to mold the retread application
• Final Inspection to assess a safe and quality product

Basic Requirements:
