Job summary

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is seeking a Retread Technician at our Bolingbrook, IL location. You will be part of the retread team, extending tire life by recapping, remolding, and building retreaded tires for road use.

Responsibilities include inspecting tires, buffing casings, repairing, applying new tread, curing, and a final safety inspection. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and career opportunities with Goodyear.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tires to determine if retreading is possible.
• Buff the casing to remove worn tread.
• Remove embedded objects, rust and repair the casing.
• Repair casing with rubber cement or patch before applying new tread.
• Apply new tread and build the tire.
• Cure the tire to complete retread application.
• Perform final inspection for safety and quality.

Job description

The starting pay for this position is $20/hr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on factors such-as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. About the Role: What will you do?

As a member of our retread team, you will play a role in recapping, remolding, or in other words, extending the life of an existing tire to get it back on the road!

• Inspect the tires to assess if they can be retread
• Buff the casing to remove any worn tread
• Remove embedded objects, rust, and repair the tire casing
• Using rubber cement or a patch, repair the casing before applying new tread
• Building the tire by applying new tread
• Curing the tire to mold the retread application
• Final Inspection to assess a safe and quality product
