Job summary

Leggett & Platt Incorporated is hiring a Production Associate for our Operations team in the Automotive division. The role involves setting up and operating molding equipment to manufacture seating components, with emphasis on quality control and safety.

You will work overtime as needed, collaborate in continuous improvement efforts, and participate in shifts such as 4:45 pm–3:15 am or 6:45 pm–5:15 am.

Qualifications

• Sufficient dexterity and mechanical understanding to operate an automated machine.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions, follow blueprints and document processes.
• Sufficient aptitude to identify proper product quality.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing skills improvement (TS-16949, Kaizen, SMED).

Responsibilities

• Set up and control operation of production machines for molding processes.
• Troubleshoot molding problems and identify when adjustments are needed.
• Start machines, set molds, hang and water molds; change nozzles and bands.
• Ensure production of quality parts and notify issues to maintenance or supervisors.

We, at Leggett & Platt Incorporated, are searching for a Production Associate within our Operationsteam to help support our Automotivebusiness. That's right! Our automotive products fall into four primary groups: Seating and Lumbar support, Motors, Actuators and Massage Systems. As Production Associate you will be responsible for sets up and controls operation of single or multiple production machines for the process of manufacturing products. Must work overtime when necessary. Must be able to work in teams on continuous improvement projects.

So, what will you be doing as a Production Associate?

• The job is a standing/sitting job requiring the operation of a molding machine. The machine processes molding of formed wire to form seating components.
• The operator is responsible for producing quality product and must be able to identify such. If necessary, the operator must be able to notify appropriate person to fix machine.
• Performs any other duties required in pursuance of the function of this position or as directed.
• Trouble shoot molding problems.
• Start molding machines; Set molds in machines; Properly hangs molds; Properly water molds.
• Change nozzles, nozzle tips, nozzle bands and barrel bands.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and use

To be successful in this role, you'll need

• Sufficient dexterity and mechanical understanding to operate an automated machine.
• Ability to understand instruction both verbal and written. This includes the ability with proper training to follow construction blueprints and document ongoing processes.
• Sufficient aptitude to identify proper product quality.
• Ability to lift objects not to exceed 70 pounds.
• Ability to roll drums weighing 500 pounds.
• Basic understanding of and full compliance with all standard safety practices.
• The willingness to be involved in ongoing skills improvement classes and efforts of which are included TS-16949, Kaizen, and SMED.
• Monday to Thursday from 4:45 pm to 3:15 am or from 6:45 pm to 5:15 am
