Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Saw Operator to cut vinyl using a computerized cutting system for final assembly of windows. You will work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment with heavy lifting and hands-on tasks.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and stand for duration of entire shift.
• Must cross-train and rotate on various workstations within line/complex.
• Ability to measure lengths accurately to 1/32".
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and understand schedule’s workflow report, and written instructions.
• Capable of using computerized equipment.
• Ability to move production carts.
• Be able to recognize part by shape and color.
• 1 - 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.

• Maintain correct parts drops inventory in the system.
• Perform quality audits and engage in problem solving to resolve issues.
• Audit quality check of cut parts.
• Perform 5S and housekeeping; support downtime duties as needed.

JOB DETAILS

Base Pay: $17.75 - $24.00 per hour

2nd Shift: 3:45 pm - 12:15 am

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Saw Operator is responsible for using a computerized cutting system, the Saw Operator cuts vinyl to the exact dimensions of the parts needed for the final assembly of windows. Successful candidates enjoy working in a fast-paced, physically demanding, and repetitive work environment, which includes heavy lifting or working with your hands.

• Operation of various hand tools to manually construct window units
• Lift and move vinyl lineals from the storage area to saw workstation.
• Movement of carts in and out of production workstations.
• Sort and select the correct batch to process based on line’s schedule flow report.
• Operate safely equipment with computerized system.
• Loading vinyl components into the production carts.
• Place scrap in the corresponding barrel (as per 5S process).
• Maintain correct parts drops inventory listed in the system present in the drop bin location?
• Ensures overall quality of work produced by performing quality audits and engaging in problem solving activities to resolve issues of concern.
• Audit quality check of cut parts.
• Performs 5S & housekeeping as expected. During line stoppages, performs downtime duties assigned to this workstation.
