Job description

Join to apply for the PRODUCTION ASSOCIATE role at Broadway In Chicago.

The Production Associate is a full-time support position for the Director of Production, Engagement Team, and Operations Department, focusing on production work at venues such as the Cadillac Palace Theatre, James M. Nederlander Theatre, CIBC Theatre, Broadway Playhouse, and others as applicable. This position reports directly to the Director of Production.

Initial responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Create and maintain production calls on the office calendar used to schedule building staff.
  2. Initial payroll entry for local stagehands, wardrobe, hair, and musicians.
  3. Maintain various tracking spreadsheets and digital records.
  4. Keep all necessary parties updated on ADA performance schedules and maintain assisted listening device inventory.
  5. Track local crew vacations and absences.
  6. Assist the Director of Production with onsite work calls, involving walking, standing, and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  7. Place approved vendor equipment rental orders, schedule deliveries and pickups respecting labor and access requirements.
  8. Onboard new Union employees with necessary paperwork.

After training, responsibilities include:

  1. Manage all annual stagehand fireguard licenses, renewals, and credentials for house heads.
  2. Update and maintain theatre supply inventory.
  3. Handle venue flameproof testing, chain motor maintenance, and repairs.
  4. Coordinate use of onsite rehearsal rooms.
  5. Create labor estimates based on show riders or provided information.
  6. Manage onsite production work calls independently, involving outdoor walking and standing.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Sense of urgency with task prioritization
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Basic technical theatre knowledge

Salary: $45,000
