Job summary

Case Western Reserve University is seeking a Production Assistant for the Maltz Performing Arts Center. The role supports the MPAC Production Team across stage, lighting, sound and video, participating in setups, rehearsals and show shifts for each event.

Flexible evening and weekend hours with an average of 5–10 hrs per week. Under supervision of Lindsey Hallbrooks, Production Manager, you will help with equipment organization, maintenance and on-site operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a theater, concert hall or performance venue in on/off-stage roles.
  • Technical experience in stage operations, lighting, sound and/or video.
  • Backstage environment experience under a stage manager.
  • Familiar with safety measures in performance venues.
  • Able to read music and orient to a conductor’s score (preferred).
  • Team player with strong communication; calm in live environments.
  • Willing to receive on-the-job coaching and show punctuality.

Responsibilities

Description

Production Assistant - Working under the supervision of the MPAC Production Team, the Production Assistant will work in a variety of areas including stage, sound, lighting and video. Production Assistants will participate in setups, strikes, rehearsals, and show shifts for each specific event. They will also assist in equipment organization, maintenance, and upkeep projects.

Date: Fall 2026

Supervisor Name and Title: Lindsey Hallbrooks, Production Manager of the Maltz Performing Arts Center

Pay: $13.50/hr with yearly raises- Federal Work Study is not required

Hours - Average 5 to 10 hrs per week, highly flexible - Mainly evenings and weekends

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working in a theater, concert hall or other performance-related venue - As either a performer onstage, stage hand off stage or a member of the front of house team
  • Technical experience in the areas of stage operations, lighting, sound and/or video
  • Basic experience working in a backstage environment under direction of a stage manager
  • Familiarity with basic safety measures and practices as it related to performance venues
  • Ideal candidates will be able to read music and orient themselves with a conductor’s score
  • Be a team player with excellent communication skills
  • Remain calm in a fast paced “live” environment
  • Follow directions and be able to receive on the job coaching
  • Be able to use problem-solving abilities and have a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrate punctuality, professionalism and a pleasant demeanor
