Job summary

Robots & Pencils is seeking an AI Engineer to contribute to the development and delivery of AI/ML systems. You’ll work with a cross-functional team, own well-scoped tasks, and ship production features, while growing your craft alongside more senior engineers.

You’ll build AI/ML pipelines, assist with prompts and evaluations, and ensure reliable, high-quality results. This early‑career role offers hands-on ownership and opportunities to impact real workflows.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience with AI/ML systems
• Solid Python or similar programming foundation
• Foundational knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience building or contributing to AI systems and LLM workflows
• Familiarity with AI frameworks and orchestration tools
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Understanding of AI safety and responsible AI practices

Responsibilities

• Build and ship features of AI/ML and LLM-powered systems in production
• Implement AI/ML pipelines from data ingestion to model deployment
• Contribute to prompts, evaluations, retrieval, and tool integrations
• Handle data preprocessing and feature engineering
• Collaborate with cross-functional team; document experiments and results
• Participate in code reviews and sharing learnings
