Job summary

McLane Company, Inc is seeking a Product Tax and Compliance Manager to lead the tax team and own the Profile tax system across regulated products and jurisdictions. You will oversee item setup, tax stamping, and regulatory compliance while coordinating with IT, accounting, and operations to drive accuracy and efficiency.

The role requires strong GAAP knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to adapt to evolving tobacco and excise tax regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in tax, accounting, regulatory compliance, or related field with leadership.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting requirements, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the product tax team with accountability and growth.
• Own Profile tax system configuration and maintenance across products and jurisdictions.
• Oversee item setup to ensure proper tax review and compliance.
• Manage tax stamp inventory and related compliance.
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate requirements to partners.
• Design and maintain jurisdictional reporting and analytics using Alteryx or similar.
• Reconcile tax-related GL accounts and support GAAP reporting.
• Assist audits and regulatory examinations.
• Collaborate with IT, merchandising, corporate tax, accounting, distribution, and regulators.
• Lead testing and implementation for electronic filing and tax system upgrades.
• Support special projects and other duties.
