Job summary

MGX Equipment Services in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Service Manager to lead a high-performing service department and drive customer success, safety, and profitability. The role requires hands-on crane and heavy equipment knowledge with a focus on parts, warranty, and fleet support.

You will manage a team of technicians, coordinate warranty programs, and work with suppliers, sales and marketing to expand service revenue. Travel is limited, and the position is full-time with day shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred.
• 5+ years in heavy construction equipment management or product support.
• Direct experience with mobile hydraulic and crawler cranes required.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office.
• Minimal travel.

Responsibilities

• Own service department performance and customer success.
• Oversee P&L accountability for the service unit.
• Develop and mentor technicians.

Are you the go-to expert for crane service operations?

MGX Equipment Services is hiring a Service Manager in Kansas City, MO (reporting to the Branch Manager) to orchestrate a high-performing service department—owning customer success, P&L accountability, technician development, and rigorous safety standards.

Why this role?

• You’ll ensure best-in-class aftermarket coverage for parts and field service.
• You’ll send the right technical talent to solve complex issues—installations, operational challenges, repairs, and machine modifications—while guiding parts and warranty support.
• You’ll manage warranty negotiations and administer the product warranty program.
• You’ll coordinate Service Bulletins and Product Improvement Programs that keep fleets performing.
• You’ll translate customer questions into swift resolutions across parts, service, and warranty.
• You’ll partner with suppliers and collaborate with sales & marketing.
• You’ll expand product support revenue, including reimbursable service work.
• You’ll contribute to long-range business planning—and tackle other assigned duties.

Do you have the background?

• High School Diploma or GED (required); Technical Degree (preferred).
• 5+ years in heavy construction equipment management or product support.
• Direct experience with mobile hydraulic and crawler cranes is required; exposure to Manitowoc, National, and Grove is beneficial.
• Comfort optimizing rental fleet scheduling and turnaround (preferred).
• Exceptional customer service and organizational skills.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Minimal travel.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
