Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Product Quality Engineer Intern to champion customer expectations and drive manufacturing excellence across LMR and Video product lines. You will apply structured problem solving to resolve quality challenges with international supply chains and crossfunctional engineering teams.

In this hands‑on role, you’ll initiate detailed quality plans, facilitate 8D root‑cause investigations, and analyze defects and trends using JIRA.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with structured root‑cause analysis frameworks (e.g., 8D, Lean Six Sigma concepts, or DMAIC).
• Exposure to workflow tools like JIRA and data analysis tools for tracking trends and metrics.
• Clear presentation and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical data to cross‑functional partners and leadership.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive team player with a passion for process improvement and customer advocacy.
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field with a graduation date no later than Dec. 2030.

Responsibilities

• Quality Planning: Initiate detailed quality plans to set clear project goals that align with customer requirements and deliverable benchmarks.
• Incident Management: Facilitate cross‑functional root‑cause investigations using the 8D methodology to resolve stop‑ship/stop‑build events efficiently.
• Defect & Trend Analysis: Drive complex problem resolution and manage customer complaints in JIRA, utilizing return data trends to champion design and manufacturing upgrades.
• KPI Metrics & Reporting: Develop, track, and regularly report product quality KPIs and performance metrics to senior Supply Chain and Design Engineering leadership.
• Preventive Strategy: Identify underlying process gaps and drive robust Preventive Actions to ensure recurring quality issues are eliminated.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work daily with global plant teams, Engineering, Technical Support, Service, and Order Management.

In this hands‑on role, you will apply structured problem‑solving methodologies to resolve complex technical challenges across international supply chains and cross‑functional engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Planning: Initiate detailed quality plans to set clear project goals that align with customer requirements and deliverable benchmarks.
