Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Software Engineering intern for our Plantation, Florida location. The role focuses on embedded systems for next‑generation two‑way radios, working within an Agile team to design, implement and test features.

You will collaborate across sites and help diagnose RTOS software defects while contributing to robust test suites. The ideal candidate is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, has C/C++ experience, and is eager to apply Linux and embedded

Qualifications

• Pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field.
• Strong interest in embedded software and real‑time systems.
• C/C++ experience and familiarity with version control and Linux are advantageous.

Job Description

This position is for a Software Engineering internship opportunity at Motorola Solutions in Plantation, Florida. We are looking for software engineers with a strong interest in embedded systems to help expand our team and deliver the next generation of communication devices to our customers.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Work in an Agile/Scrum team to analyze, design, implement, and test new two-way radio products and features
• Teamwork in a multi-site, world-wide development environment
• Finding, tracking, and repairing RTOS device software defects
• Create and execute unit, integration, system, load, and acceptance tests

Preferred Skills

• Experience in C/C++ is a plus
• Experience in real-time embedded software is a plus
• Strong communication and problem solving skills is a plus
• Experience using version control; Git is a plus
• Experience with Linux is a plus
• Experience with embedded development/debug tools (such as emulators/JTAG, etc.) is a plus

Basic Requirements

• Currently pursuing at least a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
• Must be a US Citizen, permanent resident or be an MS student with work authorization (F1 Visa on CPT accepted only for masters-level students)
