Job summary

Motorola Solutions seeks a Supply Chain Manufacturing Quality Engineer to lead quality systems on the Salt Lake City shop floor. You will bridge headquarters and production, owning ISO/AS9100 adherence, test equipment calibration, and ESD controls while guiding CAPA and supplier QA activities.

You will collaborate with engineering and operations, mentor junior engineers, and drive data-driven improvements across assemblies and processes in a high-reliability electronics environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality, or related technical discipline is required or equivalent experience.
• Four or more years of professional experience in quality engineering, manufacturing, or related technical discipline.
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
• Ability to work 100% on-site.
• Willingness to travel extensively to Los Angeles for training during the initial months.
• Experience managing calibration programs and test equipment compliance.
• Working knowledge of ESD controls and standards.
• Strong background in root cause analysis and quality system documentation in electronics manufacturing.
• Proficient with inspection and measurement tools (multimeters, calipers, micrometers, microscopes, oscilloscopes).

Responsibilities

• Lead acceptance testing, qualification, and validation of first article PCBs, assemblies, and components in a Linux-based environment.
• Manage the company test equipment program, including calibration scheduling, documentation, and ISO/AS9100 standards compliance.
• Serve as ESD Control Program Manager, ensuring site compliance with ANSI/ESD S20.20 or equivalent standards.
• Drive structured root cause analysis and CAPA for internal and supplier-related issues.
• Author and maintain work instructions and quality procedures; train operators for process consistency.
• Author and maintain QA procedures, inspection instructions, and compliance documentation.
• Partner with engineering to incorporate quality and reliability into new designs (DFM/DFR).
• Perform supplier quality activities, including evaluation of incoming materials, vendor audits, and SCAR management.
• Provide mentorship to junior quality engineers and inspectors.
• Analyze quality data and prepare leadership-facing metrics; identify improvement opportunities.
• Support audits to ensure ISO 9001/AS9100 readiness.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Job Description

As a Supply Chain Manufacturing Quality Engineer, you will serve as our quality engineering authority supporting development, production, and sustaining activities on the factory floor at our new Salt Lake City Electronics Manufacturing Facility. In this role, you will serve as the critical bridge between headquarters and local production. This role emphasizes quality system ownership, equipment and process control, and technical leadership. The Quality Engineer works closely with headquarters engineering and quality, site operations, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with industry and customer quality requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

• Author and maintain Quality Assurance procedures, inspection instructions, and compliance documentation.
• Partner with engineering to incorporate quality and reliability considerations into new designs (DFM/DFR).
• Perform supplier quality activities, including evaluation of incoming materials, vendor audits, and SCAR management.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior quality engineers and inspectors.
• Analyze quality data and prepare metrics reporting for leadership, identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring readiness and compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100 standards.
• As necessary, perform other related duties of which the above are representative.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong data analysis, reporting, and presentation skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and dynamically align to changing business conditions.
• Experience in an AS9100/ISO 9001 electronics manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with RF systems, PCB assembly, and high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
• Prior experience interfacing with customers and external auditors.
• IPC Certification.

Target Base Salary Range

$100,000 - $120,000 USD
