• Excellent written and verbal communication; proactive and detail-oriented.
• Interest in manufacturing, product development, or chemical production; lab or production coursework is a plus.

Production & Product Development Intern

This full-time internship will run from May 24 through July 31, 2027, and will be based at SERVPRO Corporate Headquarters in Gallatin, Tennessee. The position pays $20.00 per hour. Please note that housing, relocation assistance, and other accommodations are not provided by the Company.

Job Summary

The Production & Product Development Intern's goal is to understand day-to-day operations within the SERVPRO Warehouse & Production Department. Through interning with our Warehousing & Production team, the Intern will obtain an understanding of business drivers and industry trends. The Production & Product Development Intern will have the opportunity to gain hands‑on experience and develop a strong foundation in chemical blending and production operations, quality and batch documentation, and the research and development of in‑house chemicals and equipment, with rotational exposure to warehousing and distribution operations. The Production & Product Development Intern will work closely with experienced professionals who are committed to their growth and development.

You will

• Participate in weekly intern activities as scheduled and assigned.
• Attend team meetings and department events.
• Shadow experienced employees to learn business operations.
• Work alongside the blending and production team to learn batching, mixing, filling, labeling, packaging, and finished goods transfer processes.
• Support production scheduling and planning activities, including run rates, changeover time, yield, scrap, and raw material consumption tracking.
• Assist with quality checks, batch documentation, product specifications, and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) and label accuracy reviews.
• Support research and development of in‑house chemicals and equipment, including sample preparation, test coordination, and documentation of results.
• Analyze data and prepare reports on product cost, including bill of materials, packaging cost, landed cost, and margin modeling.
• Assist with competitive and supplier research on products, packaging, and equipment; compile findings into summary recommendations for leadership.
• Support the new product launch process in coordination with Purchasing, Marketing, Warehousing, and Quality.
• Rotate through warehousing and distribution to understand inventory management, replenishment, and outbound service to franchises.
• Support process improvement, safety, and 5S initiatives.
• Participate in special projects assigned by supervisors, including a capstone project presented to division leadership at the conclusion of the internship.

You have

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); intermediate Excel skills including sorting, filtering, and pivot tables preferred.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• A proactive and creative mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute new ideas.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Ability to follow documented procedures precisely and record accurate data.
• Interest in manufacturing, product development, quality systems, or chemical production; prior lab or production coursework or experience is a plus.

Education

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be a current Junior or Senior enrolled in college, pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry or a related field.

Working Conditions

• Fast‑paced, high pressure production, warehouse, and office environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, fragrances, and blending equipment.
• Will work a maximum of 40 hours per week Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM; occasional early start times to align with production run schedules.
• Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection, gloves, and closed‑toe footwear, must be worn in designated production and warehouse areas.
• Ability to lift, push, or move up to 50 lbs. individually.
