The Product Owner II role is primarily focused on tactical execution with one or more teams, but also needs a solid understanding of the solutions they work on, the users that utilize that solution, and the markets served by that solution. This enables them to provide actionable feedback to product management leadership as part of the strategic decision-making process within their product(s) or functional areas of focus. Typically working with a Product Manager, they should help to define high-level product roadmap and priorities within their area of focus, providing input and guidance throughout that process based on their experience along with knowledge of the product and user-base.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for collaborating with product management leadership to identify the work priorities for one or more teams that is focused on building or enhancing one or more product(s) or functional areas within a product

Lead their team(s) through Sprint Planning and Program Increment Planning events, making sure work is properly groomed with crystal clear Acceptance Criteria along with well-articulated user needs to enable the team to commit to work for that iteration or program increment

Key contributor, alongside Scrum Master, helping ensure their team(s) are following best practices and working optimally to deliver work items on time, with the expected level of quality

Delivers business value through a robust, prioritized, and well-groomed backlog

Be proactive in coordinating work across teams, helping ensure that changes in one area do not negatively impact other teams or other features within the product; this requires a deep knowledge of the entire solution space in which they work

Advocate for improvement initiatives within the team(s) and across the program, to help us continually improve how we define, build, and release products

Collaborate with product manager(s) for their respective product(s) or functional areas to help define higher-level roadmap and product strategy

Collaborate with key stakeholders and other teams to understand user needs then help devise and prioritize solutions with minimal supervision from upper management

Familiarity with competitor products, their value propositions and capabilities

Act as a leader within their team(s) and an evangelist of the product across the program

Engage with customers early and often to understand requirements, able to lead user feedback sessions, and demonstrate new functionality to end users where appropriate

Perform other duties as assigned

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires broad training in fields such as healthcare, information technology, computer science, business administration, or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four-year bachelor’s degree program . Generally requires a minimum of three ( 3 ) years related and progressively responsible experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Product Manager . Should understand the basics of business process modeling, software development lifecycle planning, and Agile software development . Experience in Healthcare or Pharmaceutical industry is desirable.

MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to communicate at all levels of the organization (directors, managers, engineers, quality assurance analysts, end users, etc … )

P roven ability to work with and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

Prior experience working on client product solutions

Prior Scrum experience - required

Ability to self-learn and seek out knowledge to improve understanding of technology solutions

Excellent verbal and written communication skills , strong attention to detail

Strong problem solving, planning, analysis, teamwork, and organizational skills

Confident presentation skills in small and large groups

Excellent discovery and active listening skills

Ability to use good judgment in conveying status and problem escalation

Provides coaching and mentoring to team members

Must be comfortable working on a team with daily accountability for keeping commitments

Demonstrated working knowledge of product management and Agile software lifecycle methodologies

*This Salary Range reflects a National Average for this job. The actual range may vary based on your locale. Ranges in Colorado/California/Washington/New York/Hawaii/Vermont/Minnesota/Massachusetts/Illinois State-specific locations may be up to 10% lower than the minimum salary range, and 12% higher than the maximum salary range.
