JOB DESCRIPTION

Contributes to the design, development, and implementation of features and workflows within an online research platform used to conduct and manage clinical and cognitive research studies. Identifies and evaluates opportunities to enhance platform functionality based on feedback from researchers, study teams, and participants, and translates these needs into product requirements and actionable development tasks. Coordinates with interdisciplinary teams, including developers, researchers, and external collaborators, to support the full product lifecycle from scoping through deployment and iteration. Applies strong project management and organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent studies, development efforts, and competing priorities across contracts. Leads and facilitates technical discussions, contributes to documentation, and supports user training to ensure effective adoption and use of platform technologies. Utilizes platform metrics and reporting to inform decision-making, monitor performance, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Contributes to the deployment, maintenance, and integration of other applications beyond the online research platform.

Neuroscape, a division within the UCSF Department of Neurology and part of the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences, is a pioneering translational neuroscience center dedicated to advancing brain health through technology innovation, scientific discovery, and clinical impact. Neuroscape brings together neuroscientists, neurologists, psychiatrists, engineers, game designers, and data scientists to develop and rigorously test scalable digital therapeutics, neurotechnology platforms, and precision medicine approaches designed to improve cognitive function and mental health across the lifespan.

Responsibilities
  • Project Management - develops and manages project plans, including goals, deliverables, resources, and timelines for study launches, services, and platform enhancements of moderate to diverse scope and impact.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and optimization of features and workflows within multiple functional areas of an online research platform.
  • Translates researcher and study team needs into product requirements and feature enhancements for an online research platform.
  • Leads and facilitates technical discussions with advisory groups, study teams, interdisciplinary collaborators, development teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Acts as a key product/service liaison across Neuroscape and with internal UCSF and external collaborators (academic, nonprofit, and for-profit) to ensure effective development, delivery, and operation of technologies within the Neuroscape portfolio.
  • Identifies, evaluates, and contributes to the development and prioritization of opportunities to enhance online research platform functionality and feature delivery based on researcher, study team, and participant feedback.
  • Coordinates with development teams to implement feature enhancements across the full product lifecycle, including scoping, development, QA testing, production deployment, and user feedback.
  • Explains online research platform capabilities, digital interventions, and digital assessments to study teams, researchers, collaborators, and other stakeholders to drive awareness, adoption, and effective use.
  • Develops and delivers progress reports outlining key activities, milestones, risks, and progress toward goals, including feature implementation and study launch readiness.
  • Collaborates across academic and industry teams, effectively adapting communication style and knowledge to achieve assigned deliverables.
  • Conducts and supports training for internal and external users for the use of an online research platform and Neuroscape’s other digital technologies. Provides technical consultation to users to ensure the platform and digital applications run smoothly and correctly.
  • Ensures the preparation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of documentation, including end-user documentation, change logs, and release notes for various technologies, especially those used in online research endeavors.
  • Develops, tracks, analyzes, and reports on metrics / key performance indicators to support data‑driven decision making.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, cognitive science or a related field and one year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one‑year of experience required.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize key issues critical to organizational needs and the successful development and delivery of features, fixes, and enhancements within an online research platform.
  • Ability to research, collect, and analyze targeted information to use in determining product options or alternatives.
  • Proficient organization and project management skills to manage multiple concurrent studies, development tasks, and platform initiatives, including prioritizing competing requests across multiple study teams and contracts.
  • Proficient oral communication skills to effectively convey and explain information.
  • Proficient written communication skills to draft clear, concise documentation, reports, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, build consensus, and promote effective exchange of information across interdisciplinary teams, including study teams and internal and external constituencies.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software.
  • Ability to translate participant, study team, and other stakeholder needs into product requirements and actionable tasks understood by development teams.
  • Ability to manage product development workflows across the full product lifecycle, including scoping, development, QA testing, deployment, and iteration.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced coursework or training in data analysis, product management, or digital health.
  • Experience supporting or managing digital platforms at scale (e.g., multi‑study and multi‑user systems).
  • Proficient knowledge of product development concepts, practices, standards, processes, and project management tools (e.g., Asana, ClickUp, Plane, or similar platforms).
  • Working knowledge of web‑based platforms, cloud services, and data collection tools (e.g., AWS, Firebase, Qualtrics) and their applications to research workflows.
  • Leads coordination and launch of international collaborations and multiple studies.
  • Has at least 10+ years of clinical research trial experience.
  • Experience with IRB protocols and regulatory processes in clinical or research environments.
  • Can conjoin study‑centric needs from a technical point of view with practical delivery requirements needed for an online clinical trial research.
