Description Acara Solutions has an opening for a Product Introduction Technician for Alstom Transportation in Baltimore, Maryland.

Purpose

She / He will support Testing, Commissioning, and Warranty of recently overhauled Light Rail Vehicles (LRVs). The successful candidate will primarily support the commissioning and warranty activities for the Alstom MTA Light Rail Vehicle overhaul contract. Skillsets sought are those with an electro-mechanical background, including electronic and communication troubleshooting as required. This may include the use of portable test equipment (laptops with vendor software), multi-meters, and meggers. The employee will actively monitor failures both statically (in the shop) and dynamically (testing in the maintenance yard or mainline with supported test blocks). Other work may include performing engineering modifications to wiring or components as outlined with engineering instructions or as directed by the Depot Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Follow basic electronic schematics and troubleshoot to the component level.
  • Run data log files for review.
  • Change electrical/electronic components as needed.
  • Maintain good mechanical skills and knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
  • Understand torquing procedures and use torque wrenches properly.
Performance Measurements

  • Flexibility to support different shifts and weekends as required
  • Support at Baltimore and Glen Burnie locations as needed
  • Support commissioning testing and warranty repairs in an accurate and timely manner
  • Responsiveness to supervision and ability to work independently
  • Adherence to work standards, safety standards, and EHS policies
  • Teamwork and adaptability
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Basic understanding of shop rules, regulations, and railcar environment (a plus)
  • Retrieving and analyzing diagnostic logs
  • Familiarity with Ethernet communications, protocols, and network switch setup
  • Knowledge of cabling, connection methods, and uploading software to embedded devices using vendor instructions
  • Use of network diagnostic tools (Ping, traceroute, Wireshark, Fluke tools, etc.)
  • Knowledge of fasteners, hardware, torque, and safety wiring
  • Use of forklift or material handling equipment (a plus)
Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
  • Prioritize safety of product, people, and environment at all times.
  • Comply with ALSTOM Transport safety policies and control measures.
  • Participate in risk assessments and report incidents or safety concerns promptly.
  • Be aware of fire safety and evacuation procedures.
  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment correctly.
Shift and Compensation

Shift: 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, no weekends. OT available upon approval when needed. Pay rate: $30-35/hour.

Job Requirements
