Job summary

Plaid is seeking a Strategic Finance Lead to partner with Engineering and Product. You will own product-level revenue and gross margin forecasting, and shape analytical frameworks guiding capital allocation across product areas.

You will lead the finance partnership for critical product areas, collaborating with Product and Engineering leaders, and contributing to board materials and leadership reviews. Mentorship of junior team members is also expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in FP&A, strategic finance, management consulting, investment banking, or private equity, with exposure to product or engineering finance at a high-growth tech company.
• Strong command of product P&L mechanics, revenue and gross margin forecasting, headcount and capacity planning, and software unit economics.
• Comfortable owning ambiguous, judgment-intensive problems with minimal oversight, while knowing when to elevate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of distilling complex analysis for Product, Engineering and executive audiences.
• A natural mentor energized by developing junior team members, even without a formal reporting line.

Responsibilities

• Product-Level Forecasting: Own revenue and gross margin forecasts for product areas, balancing bottom-up builds with top-down sanity checks.
• Resource Allocation & Capacity Planning: Partner with Product and Engineering on headcount planning, roadmap-based capacity forecasting, and OpEx discipline.
• Performance Visibility: Own recurring reporting cadence, KPI tracking, variance analysis, and risk/opportunity identification.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Serve as finance partner to Product/Engineering leaders and coordinate with GTM Finance on go-to-market economics.
• Board & Executive Materials: Contribute analysis and narrative to quarterly Board decks and strategic reviews.
• Mentorship: Mentor junior Strategic Finance team members in modeling, rigor, and stakeholder management.
