Job summary

Steelcase is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Grand Rapids to join our engineering team focused on complex system products and architectural solutions like glass and solid walls and screens.

You will apply mechanical engineering principles, material science knowledge, and tolerance analysis to develop, prototype, and validate designs while collaborating across departments and managing multiple projects to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in product development within an engineering discipline.
  • Experience creating and defining performance requirements on engineering drawings.
  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles and material science knowledge to product engineering.
  • Strong understanding of tolerance analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop complex system products involving multiple materials and processes.
  • Design and engineer architectural solutions such as glass walls, solid walls, and screens.
  • Define performance requirements on engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Lead multiple projects to meet deadlines with prioritization and focus.
  • Prototype and test concepts to validate design decisions and iterate solutions.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience in product development within an engineering discipline
  • Experience creating and defining performance requirements on engineering drawings
  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles and knowledge of material science, manufacturing processes, and tools in product engineering
  • Strong understanding of tolerance analysis

The starting annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Steelcase considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
