Job summary

Klein Tools is seeking a Product Engineer to design, develop, and improve tools. The role focuses on delivering projects on time, solving engineering problems, and coordinating cross-functional teams and suppliers.

The engineer will oversee feasibility studies, manage multiple projects, and participate in product development from concept through implementation, with international travel as needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 1.5+ years direct work experience in the area.
• Strong technical, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to present technical analyses and financial justifications.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities under time constraints.
• Strong teamwork with internal and external partners.
• Must travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• 1. Determine and apply theoretical and practical design principles within program requirements.
• 2. Collaborate with manager and senior engineers to solve engineering problems.
• 3. Represent the organization in supplier meetings to plan and coordinate work.
• 4. Manage multiple low-to-medium difficulty projects proactively.
• 5. Estimate and build project timelines within the phase-gate framework.
• 6. Coordinate multiple action items concurrently and delegate when needed.
• 7. Address challenges under guidance of a manager or senior engineers.
• 8. Conduct feasibility studies reviewing design, costs, and proposals.
• 9. Schedule development activities and resolve design/testing issues with support.
• 10. Liaise with internal customers and suppliers to ensure design specs meet user needs.
• 11. Communicate clearly; present design/management reviews with limited support.
• 12. Create structured PowerPoint presentations for stakeholders and vendors.
• 13. Use Excel to evaluate metrics and present insights.
• 14. Moderate 3D CAD and 2D drafting; run basic FEA with mentor support.
• 15. Review and implement changes to keep projects on time.
• 16. Prioritize projects aligning with organizational goals.
• 17. Maintain contact with team leaders and executives.
• 18. Minimize negative financial impact during project implementation.
• 19. Work with Product Management on new features.
• 20. Perform other duties as requested.
