Job summary

Inalfa Roof Systems, a world-leading supplier of automotive roof systems, is seeking a Product Engineer I to drive development of sunroof modules and roof systems, directing building, modification and testing to meet specs.

You will utilize CAD to update drawings, support DFMEA, DOE, DFM/DFA analyses, and collaborate with manufacturing and QA on issues, with opportunities to contribute to cost reductions and Kaizen activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or automotive field
  • 2–5 years automotive experience and/or training
  • Ability to read and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the engineering change process
  • Support all DOE activities
  • Work with manufacturing engineering on DFM/DFA analysis
  • Support manufacturing and quality with plant build issues and root cause analysis
  • Update DFMEA's as required
  • Ensure SPV testing performed as required, communicate results and actions
  • Support cost reduction activities as appropriate
  • Support Purchasing and SQA with technical input into supply base issues
  • Support plant liaisons with technical input into customer assembly plant issues
  • Support CIP activities as appropriate
  • Support Kaizen activities as appropriate
  • Utilize CAD system to access and make minor updates to drawings

As a Product Engineer at Inalfa Roof Systems, you are in the driver's seat for developing improved or new designs for automotive sunroof modules and roof systems, directing building, modification, and testing of products, and ensuring the product design meets all customer and Inalfa Roof Systems specifications.

Job Title: Product Engineer I

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Director of Manufacturing Engineering

FLSA status: Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Oversee the engineering change process
  • Support all DOE activities
  • Work with manufacturing engineering on DFM/DFA analysis
  • Support manufacturing and quality with plant build issues and root cause analysis

The IATF16949and ISO14001 responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Adhere to all IATF16949 (Quality) / ISO14001 (Environmental) / ISO 45001 (Health & safety) procedures as related to the operations department function.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelors' degree or equivalent; or 2 to 5 years of automotive experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
