Job summary

Bolter is seeking a founding product engineer to own the full lifecycle from rapid prototyping to production across the agent-building experience, the workspace, and applications agents generate. You will influence core technical decisions, collaborate with the GM, and shape the product with an emphasis on UX and reliability.

You will design scalable architectures, balance speed and robustness, and help grow a lean engineering team to deliver tangible AI-powered productivity tools for real work.

Qualifications

• Track record shipping production software, ideally founding or early-engineer experience at a product-led startup.
• Strong TypeScript across the full stack; some Go where it fits.
• Depth in at least one: LLM design and production AI reliability, real-time data infrastructure, or building developer-facing products and internal tooling.
• Strong product instincts—connect technical choices to user outcomes and business impact.
• Comfort prototyping fast and loose, then hardening features for production.
• Clear technical communication and comfort with ambiguity.
• Ability to leverage AI agents as a multiplier in a lean team.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap across agent-runtime, workspace, and production reliability.
• Make architecture calls with trade-offs between speed, reliability, cost, and where AI vs humans act.
• Ship working prototypes quickly and harden what proves valuable.
• Recruit and shape the early engineering team as we scale.
• Stay close to the product and collaborate directly with leadership to influence UX and infrastructure decisions.
