Job summary

Curtiss-Wright EMS in Summerville, SC is seeking a Product Engineer-Associate to join the Steam & Air Solutions team. You will direct or perform the design and development of steam turbine products and components to meet contract requirements while optimizing cost.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Aero Engineering with 3–5 years in steam turbines, ability to create UG drawings and 3‑D models, and willingness to travel up to 15% to support manufacturing

Qualifications

  • US citizen per DoD requirements
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Aero Engineering with 3–5 years in steam turbine or related industry
  • Ability to create UG drawings and 3-D models
  • Experience in managing projects and working in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Oracle manufacturing systems/software
  • Steam turbine manufacturing/design experience is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead design/development of steam turbine products and components
  • Conduct feasibility studies and define design requirements per contract
  • Analyze test results to evaluate performance and identify deficiencies
  • Develop standard performance curves and calculation procedures for marketing quotations
  • Coordinate with engineering to ensure contractual requirements and drive cost/performance improvements
  • Investigate field problems and provide corrective actions, including redesigns or maintenance practices
  • Develop programs to support design concepts and analyze performance; investigate manufacturing deviations
  • May supervise engineers/technicians in design/modification of components for steam turbines
  • Travel 5–15% per year to support suppliers and manufacturing activities

We are looking for a Product Engineer-Associate to join our Summerville, SC location.
Your Responsibilities:

The Curtiss-Wright Electro-Mechanical Systems (EMS) division is seeking a Product Engineer to join our Steam & Air Solutions team. You will be directing or performing the design and development of steam turbine products and components of existing and new designs within the guidelines for product design that will meet industry and contractual requirements at the most efficient cost.

Salary:

$67,400-$97,400

Your Challenge:
  • Conduct studies and investigations to determine feasibility of designs associated with the application of turbines
  • Define product design requirements in accordance with contract requirements, including computation of performance
  • Analyze test results to evaluate and determine performance, design qualities, and operating deficiencies for the product
  • Develop standard performance curves and calculation procedures to assist marketing in quoting products
  • Coordinate with other areas of engineering to ensure contractual requirements are met. Conduct product improvement programs toward minimizing costs, improving performance and promoting standardization
  • Investigate field problems and provide corrective action in terms of component redesign, revised operating procedures or maintenance practices
  • Develop computer programs required to support and analyze design concepts with respect to performance and mechanical design. Investigate manufacturing deviations and provide corrective action.
  • May supervise and direct subordinates, product design engineers and/or technicians in the design and modification of components for steam turbines
  • Independently perform assignments that require thorough knowledge of thermodynamics, machine design, metallurgy, installation, operation and application of steam turbines
  • Travel to manufacturing suppliers to support, instruct, and manage the machining of critical components

This position will require 5% - 15% travel per year dependent upon projects assigned.

What you Bring:
  • Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Aero Engineering discipline and 3-5 years of experience in the steam turbine or related industry required
  • Ability to create UG drawings, 3-D models
  • Experience in managing projects and working in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Oracle manufacturing systems/software
  • Steam turbines manufacturing/design is an asset
