Job summary

Helen of Troy's Home & Outdoor division seeks a Product Engineer in New York, NY. This role supports multiple brands (OXO, Osprey, Hydro Flask) and collaborates with design firms, manufacturing partners, and quality teams to translate concepts into manufacturable products.

The hybrid position requires coordinating with internal teams, reviewing CAD designs, creating prototypes, preparing bills of materials, and ensuring products meet performance and quality standards before mass production.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating and directing functional and technical aspects of new products.
• Cooperating with manufacturing partners across materials and methods.
• Working with manufacturers and quality teams to improve product quality.
• Reviewing CAD designs from design firms and soliciting feedback.
• Creating prototype samples by ordering from external or in-house fabrication.
• Preparing designs for quoting with bills of materials and requirements.
• Collaborating with product managers to review quotes from manufacturers.
• Meeting design firms to discuss material selection and manufacturing costs.
• Reviewing pre-production samples from manufacturers.
• Designing testing procedures and conducting tests for performance standards.
• Approving product for mass production when quality is met.

Position:Product Engineer

Department:Engineering – OXO

Work Location:New York, NY, Hybrid (work 3 days onsite)

Hybrid Schedule:At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. For roles eligible for hybrid work, our standard schedule includes in-office collaboration from Tuesday through Thursday, with theoptionto work remotely on Mondays and Fridays. Any updates to this model will be communicated in advance. Please note that hybrid eligibility and schedules may vary based on business needs and manager expectations.

What you will be doing:

• Evaluating and directing functional and technical aspects of new products in collaboration with internal and external design firms


• Cooperating with manufacturing partners in the production of new products in a wide range of materials and manufacturing methods


• Working with manufacturers and quality team to improve the quality of existing products


• Reviewing and critiquing designs received as CAD files from design firms and soliciting feedback from manufacturers


• Creating prototype samples by ordering from external fabricators or in-house fabrication methods


• Preparing designs for quoting by preparing bills of materials, functional/quality requirements, and key manufacturing questions


• Collaborating with product managers to review and compare quotes from multiple manufacturers


• Meeting with design firms to provide insight on design decisions as they relate to material selection, manufacturing methods, assembly methods, and cost


• Reviewing and critiquing pre-production samples from manufacturers


• Ensuring that new products meet standards of performance and quality by designing product testing procedures and conducting testing


• Approving product for mass production when acceptable quality
