Job summary

Helen of Troy is seeking a Product Engineer in New York, NY, hybrid. You will evaluate and direct functional and technical aspects of new products in collaboration with design firms and manufacturing partners.

You will prepare designs for quoting, create prototypes, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and manufacturability, ultimately approving products for mass production. This role demands strong CAD skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electromechanical engineering.
• 2+ years of professional experience in related field.
• Knowledge of Creo or SolidWorks CAD software.
• Knowledge of common consumer product manufacturing methods.
• Ability to travel internationally (10%).

Responsibilities

• Evaluating and directing functional and technical aspects of new products in collaboration with internal and external design firms.
• Cooperating with manufacturing partners in the production of new products in a wide range of materials and manufacturing methods.
• Reviewing and critiquing designs received as CAD files from design firms and soliciting feedback from manufacturers.
• Creating prototype samples by ordering from external fabricators or in-house fabrication methods.
• Preparing designs for quoting by preparing bills of materials, functional/quality requirements, and key manufacturing questions.
• Collaborating with product managers to review and compare quotes from multiple manufacturers.
• Meeting with design firms to provide insight on design decisions as they relate to material selection, manufacturing methods, assembly methods, and cost.
• Reviewing and critiquing pre-production samples from manufacturers.
• Ensuring that new products meet standards of performance and quality by designing product testing procedures and conducting testing.
• Approving product for mass production when acceptable quality is achieved.

This base pay range is specific to New York City and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance.
