Job Description:
Engine System Cooling will design, develop, validate, and release cooling components. Components include cooling module assemblies (radiator, condenser, electric fan assembly), transmission oil coolers, high- and low-pressure hose and tube assemblies, electric coolant heaters, valves and pumps. Components will be developed using best practices and methodologies such as CAE, System Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), and Design Validation Plans (DVP&R).
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Responsible for a set of cooling components potentially in all stages of vehicles development.
- Lead early packaging and development of components to meet cooling functional objectives.
- Coordinate CAE, design, prototyping and testing and the documentation of those activities.
- Cooperate with supplier to ensure design for manufacturability and track supplier progress to ensure part maturity and creation milestones are met.
- Support vehicle assembly and vehicle testing and resolve any issues discovered with the components.
- Address quality concerns and potential cost reductions after vehicle launch.
Must-Haves:
- 3–5 years of experience in automotive product development, mechanical engineering, or a related engineering field
- Experience with engine cooling, thermal management, heat exchangers, coolant systems, HVAC systems, fluid systems, or related automotive cooling components
- Experience supporting components through the product development lifecycle, including design, development, validation, testing, and launch
- Experience with CAD software (CATIA, NX, Creo, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Knowledge of engineering validation and testing processes
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and resolving technical issues
- Ability to work cross-functionally with design, CAE, testing, manufacturing, and suppliers
- Strong project management, communication, and organizational skills
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with radiators, condensers, fan assemblies, transmission oil coolers, coolant hoses/tubes, valves, pumps, or electric coolant heaters
- Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T, and APQP
- Experience supporting vehicle testing and launch activities
- Experience working directly with suppliers and managing component development milestones
- Exposure to CAE analysis and thermal performance evaluations
- Bachelor's degree, Associate's degree, or technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
