Job summary

PFI Conveyors is seeking a Product Engineer to design and support sanitary food processing conveying equipment. You will contribute to product extensions, cost reductions, and new product creation while ensuring manufacturing throughput and customer requirements are met.

Responsibilities include providing technical data, collaborating with production, and developing BOMs and routings. Candidates should have a mechanical engineering background and CAD/FEA proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Engineering concepts in steel fabrication design.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAE software.
  • FEA software proficiency including SW PDM.
  • MS Office suite proficiency.
  • MSHA Safety Training certificate preferred.
  • Passport without travel restrictions in Americas.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Product Engineer Division: PFI LSA: Exempt Grade: NA Job Status: Full Time Travel Required: 0-10% Revision Date: February 9, 2023 Reports To: Engineering Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION Responsible for the design and technical support of specific products and processes by performing duties and responsibilities listed below.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. More specifically, the person will:

  • Execute product extension, cost reduction and new product creation projects under the direction of their manager.
  • Formulate creative and efficient design solutions maintaining structural integrity of the product while optimizing customer desires, feature requirements, cost and manufacturing through-put goals.
  • Plan, delegate and schedule work to be performed, which includes monitoring and communicating to those performing work delegated, or happening in other areas to assure timelines are met. (EX: material acquisition, outsourced drafting, MRP system loading, production planning)
  • Provide technical support, field application support, training and technical data to all other areas of the company as needed to meet or exceed our customer expectations.
  • Use computer assisted equipment for design and creation of drawings of products.
  • Maintain and improve products, processes, and communication tools.
  • Plan and execute given tasks in a timely manner and within deadlines.
  • Provide technical information to production, inventory, purchasing, sales and other internal customers.
  • Develop bills of materials, manufacturing routings and standards for products.
  • Continually participate in additional training related to the job.
  • Perform extra assignments in other areas and related task assignments in the work area.
  • Demonstrate regular, consistent attendance.
  • Perform housekeeping in area including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and cleaning tools and machines.
  • Regular, consistent attendance.
  • Communicate positively with managers, peers, and customers; both internal and external.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to analyze and comprehend engineering concepts related to steel fabrication design. Competence shall include, but not be limited to, the following: static stress analysis, mechanics of materials, and mechanical component design.
  • Capable of acquiring proficiency in Auto-CAD and SOLIDWORKS and SW PDM software.
  • Capable of acquiring proficiency in FEA software.
  • Capable of acquiring proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
  • Capable of acquiring MSHA Safety Training certificate
  • Capable of acquiring a passport without travel restrictions in North and South America

EDUCATION – EXPERIENCE – COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Prior conveyance design experience preferred.
  • 2–4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TRAINING – CERTIFICATIONS – LICENSES

  • Valid Driver’s license required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), work near moving mechanical parts, work in high, precarious places, fume or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, worldwide outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is MODERATE. Safety glasses, steel toe shoes and ear plugs in production areas or at customer facilities. Other PPE required in some customer facilities.
