Job description


Note: Work location is remote (e.g., home address), per KP’s Authorized States Policy. Employees may be required to travel to a KP or customer site. Residence required in the primary location: All Kaiser Permanente Authorized Locations. Note: Compensation may differ based on market.


Job Summary:

Develops product strategy for a market, product type, or product line of business (LOB), and conducts ideation sessions to build a robust product pipeline aligned with market goals. Uses advanced understanding to drive performance across markets, product types, or LOBs, analyzing competitors and KP product performance. Coordinates product feasibility assessments and defines development strategies through executive alignment. Acts as the product authority, providing expertise to the organization, sales, customer support, and external consultants. Manages complex business development initiatives, ensuring market, member, and KP objectives are met. Oversees product implementations, develops training, and manages change across markets, leveraging deep knowledge of product policies and administration, working closely with Underwriting, Actuarial, Regulatory, and Benefits teams.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Promotes learning and relationship building with stakeholders; provides feedback and practices self-leadership; adapts to changes and models collaboration.
  • Leads or oversees business projects, applying expertise, ensuring adherence to policies, making effective decisions, solving complex problems, and managing resources to meet deadlines.
  • Participates in business-case development for complex initiatives.
  • Manages product or program implementation from start to post-implementation transition.
  • Facilitates product portfolio feasibility assessments and development, aligning initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Leverages deep product knowledge, including policy and end-to-end administration, collaborating with key departments.
  • Develops and delivers product training and manages change initiatives independently.
  • Manages a matrixed team across multiple markets, LOBs, and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience leading matrixed teams, with or without direct reports.
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or 11 years of relevant experience in healthcare, product management, strategy, finance, sales, marketing, consulting, benefits, or related fields.
