Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Product Development Engineering Co-Op to join the ECP Product Development Team in Danvers, MA. The role focuses on developing next-generation heart pump and vascular access technologies with hands-on bench work and cross-functional collaboration.

You will design, build, test, and analyze components, prototypes, and fixtures, while documenting results and contributing to continuous improvements in a dynamic medical device environment.

Qualifications

• The candidate is pursuing a Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on lab experience are required.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical design, experimental methods, and data analysis is expected.
• Experience with 3D CAD and Excel is preferred; proficiency with statistics is a plus.
• Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work independently or in teams are essential.
• Prototyping, machining, 3D printing, and medical device project exposure is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and perform hands-on bench testing for medical device components and systems.
• Develop and improve test methods, select equipment, and verify measurement repeatability.
• Create and iterate mechanical designs using 3D CAD and support prototyping via 3D printing or machining.
• Collect and analyze test data, summarize results, and present conclusions to the team.
• Support root cause investigations and design improvements through structured experiments.
• Document procedures and results in technical reports and presentations with cross-functional partners.
