Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Product Development Engineering Co-Op to join the ECP Product Development Team in Danvers, MA. You will plan and execute bench testing, develop test methods, and contribute to mechanical design using 3D CAD tools, supporting rapid prototyping and data-driven improvements.

The role requires pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, strong hands-on lab skills, and excellent data analysis and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and enthusiasm for hands-on laboratory work.
• Foundational knowledge of mechanical design, engineering mechanics, experimental methods, and data analysis.
• Experience with 3D CAD software; SOLIDWORKS is preferred.
• Ability to organize and analyze data using Excel; statistical analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Planning and executing hands-on bench testing, including feasibility, characterization, simulated-use, and design verification testing of medical device components and systems.
• Developing and improving test methods by defining procedures, selecting equipment, designing fixtures, troubleshooting setups, and assessing measurement repeatability and robustness.
• Creating and iterating mechanical designs for product components, prototypes, and test fixtures using 3D CAD; support prototype fabrication through 3D printing or machining.
• Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting test data; summarize results, identify trends or failure modes, and present conclusions to the engineering team.
• Supporting root cause investigations and design improvements through structured experimentation and collaborative problem-solving.
• Documenting test procedures, experimental results, design work, and engineering conclusions in clear technical reports and presentations.
