Job summary

ITW Power Nailing in Glenview, IL seeks a Product Development Engineer to lead fastening product families from concept through commercialization. You will own nails/staples design performance, drive improvements, and partner with Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality to deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.

Travel up to 15% to domestic sites and factories, applying engineering analysis, prototyping, testing, and risk assessment to solve complex challenges and advance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of combined product development, design engineering, and product engineering.
• Strong mechanical design, analytical problem-solving, and project leadership.
• Experience developing products from concept through commercialization.
• Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and product validation methods.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to travel up to 15% to domestic sites and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate, and commercialize fastening solutions meeting performance, quality, manufacturability, cost, and timing targets.
• Own technical performance and evolution of nails and staples throughout their lifecycle.
• Partner with Product Management to evaluate customer needs, market opportunities, and concepts.
• Apply engineering analysis, prototyping, testing, risk assessment, and structured problem-solving.
• Lead product development projects through ITW’s New Product Development process.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Quality to launch and improve products.
• Conduct customer visits, field evaluations, benchmarking, and technology assessments.
