Job summary

Milwaukee Tool in Brookfield, Wisconsin, is seeking a lead Mechanical Engineer for Fastening Power Tools NPD. You will lead mid/high complexity power tool development projects, provide cross-functional guidance, and set up test regimens with data analysis to support design decisions.

You will apply first principles, perform stress analyses, and mentor teammates while traveling up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of machine design experience
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD Modeling
• Broad knowledge of materials, components, and manufacturing processes
• Willingness to travel up to 10% (domestic and international)

Responsibilities

• Lead technical resource on mid/high complexity Power Tool New Product Development projects.
• Provide clear technical information to cross functional teammates, Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams, facilitating trade-off decisions.
• Establish test regimens for components and assemblies within project scope with minimal guidance; deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations.
• Serve as a technical resource and provide consultation/mentorship to engineering and non-engineering teammates alike.
• Apply first principles to create free body diagrams and develop static and/or dynamic models of new systems, leading the design analytically and supporting decision-making through rigorous engineering analysis.
• Perform mechanical stress analysis on linear and non-linear systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve technical challenges.
• Execute tolerance stack analyses (statistical and geometric preferred).
• Design and analyze gear-driven systems and mechanisms, including sound and vibration/response of dynamic systems.
• Demonstrate system-level thinking by maintaining a holistic view of interdisciplinary design decisions affecting user needs and project delivery.
• Collaborate proactively with interdisciplinary peers to plan for and address issues impacting schedule, cost, performance, or delivery.
• Create and execute plans to inform early-stage development using empirical and analytical methods; investigate root cause and troubleshoot designs under constraints.
• Operate effectively in a high-paced development environment.
• Motivate and support learning—teach others about new discoveries and best practices.
