Job summary

You will coordinate with suppliers, manage scanning equipment deployment, ensure traceability to VIN, support change control processes, and maintain master BOM and project schedules across North American plants.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience as a DRE for automotive parts/systems.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with Team Center, data management and traceability methodology.
  • Knowledge of scanning and data acquisition equipment functionality.

Responsibilities

Job description

Job Description: Product Development Engineer withDRE experience of any automotive parts/systems. The work activities will include, but not be limited to:

Requirements/Responsibilities:
  • Support in identifying target parts, lead design, sourcing, release, validation, and verification of labels
  • Support design, release, and implementation of component labels
    • Facilitate traceability information of parts tied to the VIN of vehicle assembled at Ford plant
    • Lead discussion with suppliers to specify needed label updates, request quotes, and lead through the change control management / change approval process.
    • Communicate label descriptions and requirements to support preparations for manufacturing plant scanning implementation.
  • Support scanning equipment maintenance –
    • Conduct a review of current scanner status across all North American plants.
    • Determine if any existing scanners that can be used and identify where new scanners are needed.
    • Identify and implement new scanning equipment required to support traceability info for designated components.
    • Identify source of new scanners, requesting quotes for new equipment, and leading the acquisition process.
  • Support Validation and Verification -
    • Provide a single point of contact for plant-based personnel, working to ensure preparations for installation of new equipment, and setup of data acquisition systems is proceeding on schedule
    • Work with plant-based personnel to develop and execute a plan for validation and verification of installed equipment performance.
  • Manage and ensure manufacturing-specific documents calling out special characteristics for parts (including scanning and storing of traceability information) are updated properly.
  • Keep weekly correspondence with Manufacturing Engineer counterpart to track Change Request (CR) progress and assist in approvals when needed.
  • Manage the overall program timing by creating a workplan to ensure that all key milestones are met.
  • Lead price and investment quotations for all component, module, and engineering changes.
  • Develop and provide open issues management reporting of design changes, risks and opportunities and open issues for the component.
  • Develop and manage the master program BOM within the client tools.
Qualifications:
  • 5 years of experience as DRE for any automotive parts/systems.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
