Job summary

Prent Corporation seeks a Design Engineer to turn ideas into thermoformed packaging solutions. You will manage customer projects from concept through pilot and pre-production, collaborating with customers and internal teams to deliver finished products.

Key responsibilities include creating CAD designs, developing designs from concept to part creation, and reviewing pilot samples while adhering to Prent’s practices and ISO procedures. Strong CAD and plastics knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong 2D and 3D CAD drafting skills.
• Knowledge of thermoforming or thermoformed products.
• Understanding of tooling and tool-building methods.
• Knowledge of plastics and materials used in product design and manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Create thermoformed packaging designs based on customer needs.
• Develop projects from initial design through final part creation.
• Create and modify 3D CAD designs and drawings.
• Partner with customers to understand project requirements and develop design solutions.
• Coordinate with internal teams as projects move from design into production.
• Review pilot and pre-production samples and recommend changes or approval.
• Follow standard design and engineering practices; adhere to ISO procedures.

About your new role:

Turn ideas into packaging solutions. As a Design Engineer, you’ll create innovative thermoformed packaging solutions and manage customer projects from initial concept and 3D CAD design through finalization, pilot, and pre-production. You’ll work directly with customers and collaborate across Prent to turn ideas into successful finished products.

In this role, you will:

• Create thermoformed packaging designs based on customer needs.
• Develop projects from initial design through final part creation.
• Create and modify 3D CAD designs and drawings.
• Partner with customers to understand project requirements and develop effective design solutions.
• Coordinate with internal teams as projects move from design into production.
• Review pilot and pre-production samples and recommend changes or approval.
• Apply Prent’s standard design and engineering practices.
• Follow applicable ISO procedures and work instructions.
• Continue building your knowledge of thermoforming, tooling, plastics, materials, and manufacturing processes.

What you need:

• College degree in a relevant field or equivalent related experience.
• Strong 2D and 3D CAD drafting skills.
• Knowledge of thermoforming or experience with thermoformed products.
• Understanding of tooling and tool-building methods.
• Knowledge of plastics and materials used in product design and manufacturing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
• Comfortable learning new technology and design methods.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team
